However i’d be careful not to post this question on there as you will get flamed for asking, as it’s one of the most asked questions on there (that and reese basses, oh and pendulum snares *vomits*).

I would really recommend getting involved in Dogs On Acid (drum and bass forum) for this sort of thing, (The Grid Forum specifically) production wise, there are threads of interest which detail tips and techniques for drum and bass production, there are sample packs galore which users upload, and also 'The Big Names' also post on there. (not the radio on DJ) it’s amen mashup tastic (like all his other albums on Planet-mu). If I could recommend any listening for mashing up the Amen (in a clear mashup way) I would recommend DJ Shitmat, his latest album called ‘Grooverider’. For using them in breakcore I load them into beatlookup or 元 and random stepshift, amongst others. I generally rewrite breaks in random stepshifter as a plugin in logic. I recently submitted a simple track to rachmiels 1 minute project using a chopped amen break, remangled through random stepshifter. (don’t tell the winstons this though, if they knew what their drums had done to music, and they hired a good solicitor, the DnB would be Doomed! and also 5000 one shots and hits …Īs for finding the original, it was created by The Winstons on a B-side called Amen Brother. It also contains the original amen and some other classics, apache etc and also the ‘deleted Tim Exile sample pack’. If you've got any examples (4 / 8 bar breaks) of your break-mashing, post them up! This is something that's really started to interest me.Ĭlick to expand.I have 2gb of breaks samples and one shots to share (mostly amens with different processing/production done to them) which I was going to share on here but I need to find a free file host that will take over 2gb upload, you can have that. I love the sound of these toys with a fat compressor on the end of them.well, it's brown pants time! I'm getting really into Splitter, and Random Step Shifter at the moment. Secondly, how do you use this iconic break in your music? What tools in R5 do you use for mangling & re-sequencing the break-of-all-breaks? It's all been cut-ups, and variations on a theme! It got me to thinking how many times can we use 'The Amen Break' before it gets old? I'm thinking "how long is a peice of string" will be the answer.įirstly, does anyone have the original break as an MP3 or AIFF file - I've been scouring the web but not found anything even slightly similar. So, I've been listening to a wide variety of drum'n'bass this week - I found the 'Hospital Records Podcast' on iTunes I've heard no less than 20 blinding new tracks this riously awesome stuff.
